Lightner Creek Campground & Cabins

Lightner Creek Campground & Cabins

Your Ideal Base in Durango, Colorado

Located just five miles west of Historic Durango, Colorado you will find Lightner Creek Campground & Cabins. The campground can accommodate a variety of camping equipment from tents to the big rigs. There are also rental units for those without camping equipment … camper cabins, lodge rooms and house keeping cabins. Some of the sites and cabins are located beside Lightner Creek.

The facilities include rest rooms with hot showers, an outdoor heated swimming pool, children’s play ground, coin laundry, a small camp store and a fenced in pet park. Pets are welcome on camp sites and camper cabins; however, not in the lodge rooms and house keeping cabins. All guests also have access to free Wifi. Those amenities really add to an enjoyable camping experience.

In Durango and at Lightner Creek Campground, you are in the mountains – where outdoor activities take center stage in the Four  Corners region of Southern Colorado. So bring your hiking boots, fishing pole, or mountain bike to enjoy all the fun things to do in the area … or just relax in the pleasant mountain air.

The campground makes an ideal base camp to use for your exploration of the area. Drive the San Juan Skyway, explore the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park, and just one half mile from the campground, hike or bike the Colorado Trail. The camp store can provide you trail maps.

Special events are frequent in Durango – such as the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, which takes place over the Memorial Day weekend.  This is a really fun time to visit. Make your reservations now for this busy weekend.
